Camino de Santiago
Support our journey and raise funds for the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation
In May, Alltech President and CEO Dr. Mark Lyons, along with his wife, Holly Lyons, and the “Peregrinos de Pearse” (Pilgrims of Pearse) team will embark on an incredible journey — walking the Camino de Santiago. This endeavor is not only a personal challenge but also a testament to the spirit of adventure and perseverance inherent in Alltech’s company culture.
To make this journey even more special, we have created a custom lapel pin, in the shape of a shell, that Mark will carry with him and present to supporters of the team’s adventure. Supporters can purchase a “ticket” for $100; each ticketholder will receive one of 100 pins that accompanied Mark on the journey, along with a thank-you note from Mark and his fellow pilgrims. Pins will also be available for purchase at the Pearse Lyons Distillery in Dublin.
Our connection to the Camino de Santiago
The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrimage routes leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain.
St. James Church in Dublin, home of the Pearse Lyons Distillery, has a long association with the pilgrimage to the saint’s legendary tomb in Spain. Modern pilgrims still complete the journey in honor of St. James, and many begin their Camino journey at Pearse Lyons Distillery.
The west window at the distillery depicts the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage to Spain, with St. James, the scallop shell symbolic of the pilgrimage, some sheaves of barley and other symbolic imagery. On a sunny day, the lighting effect from the windows transports the observer from St. James Church in Dublin to Santiago, Spain.
